Privacy Policy
Your privacy is of paramount importance to us. This Privacy Policy describes how grepcode.net ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, processes, and protects your information when you use the InterLoop mobile application and services (collectively, the "App").
1. Information We Collect
To provide location tracking and AI assistant features, we collect the following categories of data:
- Real-time Location Data: The App requires continuous background GPS access to share coordinates with your circle members. We only collect location data when location sharing is active inside your joined groups.
- Account Information: We collect your email address and password hash during registration to authenticate your account and manage group invitations.
- Sensor and Motion Data: We access device accelerometer and step counter inputs to optimize GPS query frequency, saving battery life when stationary.
- AI Interaction Data: When you actively use the AI Companion or Smart Translator features, we collect the text or voice transcript of your prompt, your immediate conversation history, and contextual information (such as your device's local time of day and language preferences).
2. How Your Data is Shared
We enforce strict privacy constraints on your information:
- Location Data - Inside Your Group Only: Your precise location coordinates are exclusively visible to authorized group members within circles you have explicitly joined or created. Your location data is NEVER shared with our third-party AI providers.
- AI Features - Third-Party AI Providers: Your AI interaction data (prompts, conversation history, local time) is sent to our trusted third-party AI providers—Google Gemini and OpenCode Zen—or processed via locally deployed LLMs to generate responses. We require these third parties to provide the same or equal protection of your personal data as stated in this policy, and they are strictly prohibited from using your conversation data to train their models.
- PII Protection: Our backend AI gateway includes automated guardrails that actively scan for and block requests containing Personal Identifiable Information (PII)—such as email addresses, phone numbers, SSNs, and credit card numbers—rejecting them before they ever reach our third-party AI providers.
- No Data Brokerage: We do NOT sell, rent, or lease your location data, logs, or personal information to marketing, advertising, or data brokerage companies.
3. Data Retention and Deletion
You have full ownership of your data:
- Rolling Cleanup: Location coordinate history is automatically pruned and removed from our active database tables periodically.
- Complete Account Deletion: You can delete your account at any time directly in Settings by clicking "Delete Account". This will instantly purge your profile, group memberships, and all coordinates from the database permanently.
4. Security
We implement secure TLS encryption (HTTPS) for all data transferred between the App and our backend servers. Secret keys and passwords are encrypted and securely stored using Keychain and operating system sandboxing.
